Bacoor is a first class city in Cavite, and the second largest in the province after Dasmariñas. With more than 664,000 people as of 2020, it is also the 15th most populated city in the country!
In recent years, Bacoor has transformed from an agriculture-based economy to a residential and urban hub, especially since many of its residents commute daily to and from Metro Manila for work. Due to the increasing population, and consequently — heavy traffic — the Bacoor Traffic Management Department (BTMD) was established. It works closely with the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
What is the BTMD?
According to City Ordinance 2013-047 or the “Revised Revised Traffic Code of the City of Bacoor,” the Bacoor Traffic Manafement Department (BTDM) is responsible for enforcing and implementing the city’s Traffic Code, including traffic management programs.
Operating under the direct supervision of the City Mayor, the BTMD is composed of five units: Traffic Engineering Unit, Transportation Planning Unit, Traffic Enforcement Unit, Facilities Management Unit, and Support Services Unit.
Mandate and Objectives
The BTMD is mandated to enforce and implement the traffic laws of Bacoor City. Likewise, it is also tasked to:
- Ensure fast, accurate, and “friendly” releasing and receiving of traffic ordinance violation receipts, licenses, and motor vehicle plate numbers;
- Safeguard the proper security and safety of motorists, pedestrians, and the general riding public; and
