Land Transportation Office – Region 8 recently conducted the Lady Law Enforcement Officers Deputation Seminar in Candahug, Palo, Leyte. Held on July 3 and 4, 2024, the event took place at the LTO 8 Conference Room, which is situated in the Government Center.
Female LTO employees from across the region attended the seminar, which focused on road safety, including discussions on traffic rules and regulations. Moreover, the event highlighted the importance of women empowerment within the law enforcement community.
Female LTO Employees Attend Road Safety Seminar
Based on a Facebook post by Land Transportation Office – Region 8, the Lady Law Enforcement Officers Deputation Seminar tackled important topics such as traffic laws, accident prevention strategies, and road safety technology. The participants learned about the best practices for ensuring road safety, putting emphasis on community education, vigilance, and adherence to traffic rules and regulations.
Interestingly, the seminar also served as a platform for promoting women empowerment. During the event, participants were trained to enhance their confidence, leadership skills, and professional capabilities as female law enforcement officers.
In hindsight, the seminar sought to challenge stereotypes and break down “barriers,” thus encouraging women to take on more prominent roles in their departments as well as in the wider law enforcement community. The event focused on gender sensitivity, which put emphasis on the importance of creating an “inclusive” workplace — where everyone can thrive, regardless of gender.
Notably, the event is a reflection of LTO Region 8’s dedication to creating a knowledgeable, empowered, and inclusive workforce — with officers who are committed to maintaining road safety and upholding law enforcement standards.
The seminar was made possible through the support and acknowledgment of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista, and LTO Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II. Indeed, their commitment to promoting road safety and women empowerment was key to the event’s success.
Nowadays, gender stereotypes are no longer the norm. Everyone is encouraged to pursue whatever field they wish, regardless of gender. This applies to law enforcement roles, too. Kudos to LTO Region 8 for training and empowering lady law enforcement officers!
In other news, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II has called for road safety seminars… this time for members of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODAs). Check out this link to know more about his announcement!
